Promoting Moms Via www.Mom2Mom.socialgo.com

29 Aug

I got to play question and answer with Louise Edington for my website www.Mom2Mom.socialgo.com I came across her by total accident, she was a person who liked one of my Facebook fan pages, for the site Mom 2 Mom. After I saw her name I decided to check her out. I then saw that she was a mom, blogger, tweeter, and took part in many other things. I skimmed over her blog and found a posting that I related to. So I checked out her blog a little more, eventually becoming a subscriber to it. I contacted Louise via e-mail and asked her could I ask her some questions, because she was a mom and blogger…. She said yes! I was so excited that she said yes, because I try to promote moms with everything that they do. Which is one of the reasons I wanted to ask Louise some questions. I am also trying to let moms know about a great social networking site for moms. I am trying to reach a goal of at least 100 users, but by no means do I want to stop there! Once I reach that goal and have more consistent users at Mom 2 Mom, the site will be able to utilize video chat as well as run advertisements! It is all about me helping you, help me. If that makes any sense. Currently Mom 2 Mom has IM, messaging, video and picture uploads, blogging, groups, and more. We currently have 21 users at Mom 2 Mom and Louise Edington is one of them! Okay enough about my site, check out the Q & A with Louise Edington. I hope you will enjoy it!

Q

First off let other me ask, what are all of the projects that you are currently working on or the projects that you will be doing in the future?

A

I am currently learning how to use social media to grow my business. I’m a Childcare Coordinator for a live in cultural exchange AuPair program and I’m looking for families for whom hosting an AuPair is a great option. I have just completed The Social Networking Coaching Club with Ann Evanston http://bit.ly/bzTgcn through which I have learnt how to market online without being ‘salesy’. I actually did a blog post about the course http://bit.ly/acyiFW and also about my role as a Childcare Coordinator http://bit.ly/duSIl3 for those that would be interested to learn more.

Q

What made you start blogging?

A

I had always liked the idea of doing a blog but never got round to it. I actually started blogging as a part of Ann Evanston’s boot camp and I wonder why on earth I didn’t start years ago!

Q

What is your blogging style?

A

My style? Hmmm – I’m just me really. I try to convey who I am through blogging. I’m British so I try and put across some of my Britishness and I try to inject a little humor into my posts.

Q

Since you do have a blog, let others know, what makes your blog so special? In other words, why should someone subscribe to your blog or at least read it?

A

I feel my blog is special because I am a very energetic person who lives a very full life so I have a lot to talk about. I’m an older mum who works at home and tries to juggle all that, that entails. I have also moved a LOT in my life. I lived in Canada and the US as an AuPair/Nanny when I was younger and I’ve lived back in the UK, Australia and here in the US again with my husband and children. I call my blog Lou Loves Learning because I see myself as a lifelong learner. I have a thirst for learning new things and I am enjoying sharing my experiences and that thirst for knowledge with others.

Q

I checked out your blog, I also subscribe to your blog and I was looking at your blog posting “Working Stay At Home Mum- My Day”, your day was pretty busy. Is that typical for you? I know as a mom myself who is trying to get into blogging it can be hard. It can actually be very hard from my perspective, just by trying to balance everything.
How do you do it?

A

Yes, that’s a very typical day for me. I’m still learning how to balance and sometimes I do it better than others. I’m finding focus helps. I am focusing on my goals, creating a vision board and statement so that I know what I’m aiming for. Of course those goals are moveable but it really helps to have that focus. I also find that to do lists are a BIG help – again, they help keep focus.

Q

For all of the people who think that bloggers just sit at home all day behind their computers, have it easy, and don’t really have a job, what would you like to say to these people? I ask this question, because once upon a time I was one of those people. I thought the job was very easy, at least until I started to partake in blogging.

A

Well I’m not just a blogger, it’s a part of what I do. However, I do see it as a major part of my job as it means that I get to meet people and those people get to know me. Hopefully those that get to know me through blogging will not only enjoy my blog but also think of me if they ever need live in childcare or if they hear of someone else who needs live in childcare. Blogging also keeps me busy – to do a blog well there are certain things I have to remember to do and also I have to blog frequently and that means thinking about it almost constantly to get ideas for blog posts.
Well that just about sums up my Q & A with Louise Edington. I really appreciate Louise taking the time out to answer my questions. Thanks a million! In the mean time everyone else can check out Louise’s blog http://louiseedington.com/ as well as my site www.Mom2Mom.socialgo.com you can help Mom 2 Mom reach its goal of at least 100 users!!

I Social Network, I Facebook, I Tweet, and I Wish You Join Me

5 Aug

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is good. I haven’t been on in a while. I know, I know. I have been finishing up with the last few weeks of school and it paid off. I made the presidents list yet again. So that means I am still an honor student. I am so PROUD of myself. Since school is over I can now get back to blogging, promoting my website, and Tweeting on Twitter. I have 79 followers on Twitter. Feel free to follow me I am MomPorschea87. I tweet about a wide variety of topics and I also let my followers know of whatever deals are going on. This really helps, because I am a bargain shopper to the extreme!
I have a website http://www.Mom2Mom.socialgo.com it is a social networking site for moms. Once I get more users I will add a video chat feature. So people, people please join. I might be bias but I feel it is a great site. Even though I only have 15 users, myself included. But hey I love my site. I also have a FaceBook page for the site http://www.facebook.com/#!/apps/application.php?id=137376279619345 it also links to my site Mom 2 Mom. I added a question for discussion for the first time today. I will be adding a question daily now. Feel free to comment and give your opinion, feed back, or whatever. It is really appreciated! I don’t have many people on any of my projects, but I am trying. While trying, I hope you will join me in my endeavors.

Technology and the Destruction of Family: You Be the Judge

21 Jul

I am 23 years old and technology is a very big part of my generation. The days of people writing letters are long gone. Now a days the only thing that is being sent to someone else through the mail is a mail from an inmate or a birthday card; but technology now has it so you can send an electronic birthday card. Cell phone or smart phone, everybody and their mama has one. Text messages have replaced the daily calls between families and friends. Computers and now the Ipad, chances are you own one or the other. E-mail has replaced some of the work that the mail man once did. Everyone is up on the digital communication. Everyone but me… Well somewhat. I love to talk on the telephone, I love to receive letters and birthday cards via mail. Those are the mementos that I put away in a show box in the top of my closet. When I go into a deep thought process reminiscing, I go to that box, read my letters and look at my birthday cards. I just love the good old days. You gotta love memories. I know I do! But I do love a computer, social networking, e-mail, and text messaging too.
Even though there are many benefits that are reaped from technology, where do you draw the line? Is it okay to just communicate with people digitally? Or are we as people losing our sense of personality with cell phone, e-mail, and everything else? Lol this and smh that. At first I was like what does smh mean? You can’t tell how someone is feeling with acronyms or “text talk” as I call it. I like text messaging just as much as the next person, but if I am going to have an in depth conversation with someone I want to do it over the phone and not through a key pad. I want to hear every sigh, every pause, and if you have to think about your response to me I want to hear the silence, just so I can know if you are lying or not. This really works when it comes to men, who text there lies frequently. The longer the response time, the longer the male has to think so you know their lying. You can tell right off hand while your are in an actual conversation on the telephone. Text messaging and e-mails make lies harder to detect, well at least for me it does.
Me personally, I like texting and all but I think it is a bit over rated. I would rather talk on the phone any day. The computer I really don’t know, because I am on here everyday several times a day. Even still technological advances have really replaced traditional ways of doing things. Family time is enjoyed less and when families do get together there are a lot of interruptions. Cell phone ringing or vibration, IM notifications, and everything in between. In a sense technology is a destructive force for today’s families. What do you think? Does modern technology make it harder for families to be a family and is the bond of a family slowly being destroyed by technology? I would love to know how you feel.
